With five billion more people set to join the virtual world, the boom in digital connectivity will bring gains in productivity, health, education, quality of life and myriad other avenues in the physical world—and this will be true for everyone, from the most elite users to those at the base of the /5(11). We create time stamps to denote life transitions; whether we get a tattoo, haircut, create a status update, or buy a sports car we are designing a form of meaning or purpose in our lives. Outside of materialism, we make Design decisions for our future selves by planning and searching for meaning through aspirations, partners, and careers. Paro is one of the star attractions at a new exhibition at the Design Museum in London. “NEW OLD: Designing for our future selves” looks at the ways designers have tried to enhance our experience of old age.
